About us:
Red Materia (“material network” in Spanish) is comprised of a wide network of experts in natural materials in Guatemala. While their work is extensive, Red Materia acts as the nexus for knowledge-sharing and connections.
Our team is based in La Antigua Guatemala. We are makers, designers, and artists that have come together to support the incredible projects and pieces being produced in our region.
TEAM:
Sarah Alix Mann
Founder and CEO
Sarah Alix Mann's work re-frames our connection with nature and with our own bodies, using research and design to question paradigms about how we heal ourselves and the planet. Her designs have been realized in hand-made products, cultural spaces, natural landscapes, social initiatives, digital platforms, and exhibitions. Her hand-made pieces have been featured at Salon del Mobile at SaloneSatellite, Dutch Design Week, and Mexico Design Week, where the studio she co-founded, Segundo Piso, was nominated as awards finalists.
Cecilia Romero
General Manager
Cecilia has worked in hospitality design for over a decade and was a crucial part of launching Red Materia in its current, physical location. She is an avid maker and artist - many of her pieces, especially in the form of lamps, adorn Red Materia. Cecilia manages the store, the BnB, and events.
